Chalet
Les Pesses is situated at the foot of the Mont de Grange
nature reserve and enjoys views dominated by its flora
and fauna, which include a large variety of unique
mountain species such as Chamois and Bouquetin.
During the summer months we offer the same high standard
of comfortable accommodation on a bed and breakfast
basis. The chalet also boasts south facing
outdoor
swimming pool and balconies with ample garden for boules
and other games.

If you
choose to relax and unwind at the chalet in the evening,
we will be happy to prepare a BBQ for you, or for you to
cook yourself, alternatively weather-not-permitting,
choose from our menu for indoor dinning. Packed lunches
are available for a small cost.

Walking
There are a multitude of circular walks for all
abilities directly from the chalet door, likewise there
are numerous mountain refuges a day or two walk away
making Chalet Les Pesses an ideal base to walk from, or
to. We are happy to organise luggage storage or
transfers for those on multi-day itineries, a small

Cycling
With 23 chair lifts operating thought the summer
providing 660km of VTT track in the Portes du Soleil,
Chalet Les Pesses is the ideal base for both mountain and
road biking. There are themed circuits for all abilities
that include 14 villages and a number of sites of
interest in both France and Switzerland. If you choose
can sign-up with a state registered instructor to take
you out on themed circuits to get the most out of your
mountain biking experience.
For those wishing for a more demanding experience the
permanent downhill trail served by the Super-Châtel
gondola lift, has been designed to provide the maximum
number of thrills and technical challenge. The trail is
2.7 km (1.7 miles) long and passes through both woodland
and meadows, and its 450 m of vertical drop are equipped
with bumps, banked turns and natural obstacles. Keen
downhillers have two courses available, choosing the one
suitable for their level. For these courses helmets and
protective padding are obligatory.

Golf
Golfing breaks are becoming increasingly popular in the
Alps, not only for the spectacular scenery, but also as
the local area hosts a number of championship courses.

Water Sports and Leisure
The river Dranse provides and array of sporting and
less-so activities, from freshwater fishing to
white
water rafting. Only 45 minutes away lake Geneva provides
more water based options including water-skiing, sailing
and cruises. Pamper yourself with a relaxing massage by
visiting one of the two thermal spa parcs in the nearby
swiss villages of
Lavey Les Bains and
Val D'illiez.
Airborne Activities
For something a bit different why not try
Fantasticable
a zip line suspended 240m above the pretty alpine hamlet
of Plaine-Dranse. Travel the two cables in excess of
1200m each at speeds of up to 100km/h - this is not for
the feint-hearted.
Alternatively for the experience of a lifetime try your
hand at
Paragliding from the top of Morclan into the
Abondance valley. Tandem flights harnessed to an
instructor can be arranged locally.
Nature
The Alps are on par with any eco-system in the world and
have a remarkably high level of bio-diversity with an
estimated 4500 species of plant, 80 species of mammal
and 200 species of bird. Locally (directly behind the
chalet) the Mont de Grange nature reserve provides a
wealth of rare and unique alpine species and geological
features for you to explore.

Attractions
The geology and social history of the area provide a
wealth of natural and man-made attractions within
striking distance of Chalet Les Pesses. From caves,
historical châteaux, to zoological parks, pony trekking

Autumn breaks
Alpine autumns begin mid-September and often bring long
periods of fine settled weather. Short breaks and long
week-ends are available throughout this period and suit
walkers who enjoy un-crowded trails and cheap flights!

Weather
The weather in the Alps during the summer and autumn
months due to the altitude and therefore the intensity
of the sun, is usually far warmer that the average
weather for the same period in the UK. The table below
is not specific to Châtel, but reflects the average
weather for the French Alps. It is quite common during
the summer and autumn to experience long periods of
settled warm weather (25º plus).
